A Mid-May Break!

This past weekend we decided to take a trip out of Duluth and head down to the cities. Now you would think the main reason for the trip would of been to spend time with family, and we did but our #1 reason for heading down was to take full advantage of Woodbury Garage Sale Days(sorry mom). This has become an annual event for us. We began this ritual 5 years ago and haven't stopped yet. And for the past two years our friends the Sharrow's have joined us(Ryan was outnumbered by the women this year, Josh had to work and was not able to join us but he was there to lend moral support via text/phone calls).

We started off Friday bright an early(we left Duluth Thursday evening)heading out the door at 7AM, we mean business! We have our favorite parts of Woodbury that we start off in and make our way across town as the day goes on with a quick stop at Chipotle to refuel(something that Duluth does NOT have but should really consider). We ended our day at 4:45PM! No you are not hallucinating we did spend almost 10 HOURS garage saling!

It was a blast and we never walk away empty handed. I was quite surprised by the number of boy clothes I found for Max still in good shape, it's usually pretty slim pickins with boy clothes for that age. However my  biggest steal of the day was an Evenflo carseat. For those of you with kids you know the whole carseat/booster seat is a never ending thing, and we're now at the point where Lila is graduating out of the infant carseat. Typically I don't buy them at a garage sale because most often then not they're extremely outdated and safety becomes a question. This however was just a few years old, in great condition, and super clean(always a plus) and for $5 I was not about to pass it up. With a little washing to freshen it up it's as good as new!

We finished off our weekend yesterday by taking a trip to Como Zoo. I love it and it's free! Max had a blast and with a 4 year old you get through rather quickly. No need to study the animals, you take a quick look and you move on. However he became a little distracted when he saw the rides(have a mentioned Max has no fear)and "Gwamma Jean" caved and bought Max a wristband and off he went. The ride that just about gave my mom and I a heart attack was the swing ride. You know the one where you sit in the swing and when in motion you're lifted high in the air spinning around rather quickly. You wouldn't catch me on that ride(or anyother ride for that matter)because I would be puking, but not Max. You're also suppose to be sitting with your back against the seat to prevent your swing from swaying back and forth. Well Max didn't get that memo so the whole time his swing is swaying back and forth and the whole time you hear the ride attendant on her mic saying "Please sit back in your seat!" It didn't work. Instead all you hear is Max screaming and as it ends he yells "that was so AWESOME!"

As we were leaving for home Max told me that he was going to sleep the whole way home, he didn't. Instead he talked almost the whole way home. Does anyone know what it's like to have a 4yr. old talk and ask questions for 2.5 hours?!

Next stop Plainview to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Buck!
