Oh boy have we had a busy week. One long, busy, exhausting week!
I just finished a 6 day stretch at work last night and that one night was the longest shift so far. It felt as though it would NEVER end. By 9:30pm I glanced up at the clock thinking to myself how long can ONE hour really last? Turns out it can last long. There was really nothing about the night that made it exhausting, well other then the fact that I was floated to THREE different floors and had to lug the EKG machine around to each one. But to be honest I think it was just the fact that it was my sixth day of work in a row that made it feel so long.
Late nights equal late bed times which equals less sleep. Then you throw in the early wake up of a 2 year old followed by us rushing out the door by 8:30 every morning to make it to Vacation Bible School all while hoping to maybe just maybe have enough time to spare for that one small cup of coffee. No such luck on most of those days. By Wednesday I had lost all momentum, the coffee would have to wait or perhaps I could squeeze in a run to the local Caribou Coffee(on a side note Caribou NEEDS a drive-thru!).
On a more positive note Max thoroughly enjoyed his time at Vacation Bible School or "Panda School" as Max likes to call it as this year's theme was "Panda MANIA!" He had a GREAT time and insisted towards the end of the week that I just drop him off, no need to come in(tear). Everyday he came home with stories of what he learned but yesterday was my favorite. He walked up to me and said "mom do you want me to tell you the story about Jesus dying on the cross?" So he did. "Mom do you want me to tell you the story of Jonah and the Whale?" And he did. "Mom do you want me to tell you the story of the CHIPMUNK"? Ah......wait, are we still on Bible School stories? He preceded to tell me and I'm still unsure of exactly how the chipmunk fit into all this? Perhaps he was a character in a video? Otherwise that boy has one heck of an imagination.
Between the hours of 9 and 12 each day I only had ONE child. Oh my I forgot what it was like to only have one child at home. I feel slightly bad for admitting this but it was kind of nice. I got a small glimpse of what it will be like when Max starts full-time Kindergarten in the fall. What will Miss Lila and I do with our time.......? Well back to this week we did manage to hit up the Gymnastics Academy on Thursday with Emily and the boys. All the kids had TONS of energy to burn off since they have all been cooped up inside for over a week due to the non-stop rain. But today, today was GORGEOUS as summer decided to shine on us once again(hopefully it will stay this time). After dropping Max off this morning Lila and I headed on over to visit with Emily and the boys(they live close to our church). We let the kids run around outside while we soaked up a little Vitamin D.
We made our way back to church to watch all the kids sing and we followed that up with a picnic. And since then much of our time has of course been spent outside as we MUST take full advantage of these days.
Tomorrow morning we head south, six hours south to Lake Wilson, MN. We will be celebrating the 90th Birthday of Great Grandma Cahill(Josh's Grandma). Let's hope the weather is nice down there too.
Before I go Max drew me a picture the other day and I thought it was pretty creative.
He pointed out all the clouds, sun, water, boat and you see that person riding on what looks like a fish? Well it turns out he's riding a shark. How creative is that? I mean you don't see too many people riding sharks these days.
