Naturally they couldn't wait to dive on into the crate full of gifts so after a few minutes of visiting we let them jump on in. They received many nice things, an ice cream maker, fishing pole and tackle box, books, a magnetic "paper" doll set(super cute), and much more. Of course there is always a gift to be fought over. If you remember from my previous post it was the Hex Bug(thank goodness Target had a few left), this time it was a flashlight. Max received his very own flashlight for camping with 17, yes SEVENTEEN mini LED lights in it. It's more like a spotlight. Well Lila now needs her own flashlight and has been sneaking Max's with every chance she gets. We both agreed that starting next year we will more thoroughly think their gifts through and perhaps buy two of each for some items. Ugh........kids.
We continued our tradition with Grandma and Grandpa Buck by making 3 different pots of fondue. Cheese, meat, and of course chocolate. It was all divine and somewhat hectic with the two kids but totally worth it.
Later this week we were able to meet up with a few of our college friends. It had been awhile since we last saw the Houseman family and the Bulinski family. It was fun to see everyone and to meet the Bulinski babies Alex and Cate who are now close to a year old(check out their blog off to the side).
The rest of the week was spent at work, getting ready for another family Christmas, and dropping tons of money on school books and supplies. My first 3 books cost a whopping $400.00(thank goodness we just re-financed and will not have a mortgage payment due next month)another $600.00 to go and I'm set. I just keep telling myself that in the end it will ALL be worth it, that and a little self-talk never hurts.
We're bidding farewell to 2011 with auntie Jenna and Mike(soon to be "uncle") with some more amazing pots of fondue(what can I say we're slightly addicted), and a little bit of the bubbly.
